Melbourne (SID) – Tennis star Venus Williams (USA) is eligible for the Australian Open with a wild card. 25 years after her Grand Slam Down Under tournament debut, the 42-year-old is serving her 22nd time in Melbourne. Serena Williams’ older sister is currently outside the top 1000 in the world rankings and hasn’t played a match since the US Open this year.
“The Australian community has always supported me wholeheartedly. It’s an honor to play for the fans again and I look forward to making more memories of the tournament,” said seven-time Grand Slam winner Williams. The Australian Open starts on January 16, 2023.
