Twenty-three-year-old Rybakinová, who knocked out world number one Iga Šwiateková from Poland in the round of 16, won the tournament for the fourth time without losing a set. Against 17th seed Ostapenko, she collected 11 aces and 24 winning balls. The native of Moscow, representing Kazakhstan, made it to the Grand Slam semifinals for the second time, improving her previous record at the Australian Open.
