Petra Kvitová will play her opening match on the second largest court in Melbourne Park. The finalist of the tournament from 2019 will start her fourteenth participation in the main competition of the Australian Open with a match against the Belgian Alison Van Uytvancková. At John Cain Arena, they will come in second in the order.
The Czech fight will take place in Arena 1573, where the tournament’s 20th-ranked Barbora Krejčíková and sixteen-year-old Sára Bejlek, who advanced from the qualification, will face each other in the main competition in Melbourne. Brenda Fruhvirtová, a year younger, and 20-year-old Dalibor Svrčina will make their Grand Slam debut.
Last year’s Australian Open semifinalist Karolína Muchová will open the tournament with a match against Ukrainian Lesja Curenko.
