The management of the Australian Open proceeded to completely ban the flags of Russia and Belarus, i.e. the countries behind the aggressive military invasion of Ukraine, on the premises after a group of Russian supporters displayed their flag during a match of Ukrainian Kateryna Baindlova.
In the published video, a security worker can be seen flipping through an atlas of flags, where he has the flags of Serbia, Slovenia or Slovakia and identifies which country the fan’s banner actually represents.
“This is the Serbian flag. Serbia is in the central Balkans in Europe. Do you know what kind of state this is?” a supporter teased the confused security guard. One of the fans even lashed out at the worker: “You’re a fucking racist.” The security officer objected to being filmed, saying that the people in question had no permission to do so.
“Then call the fizzles, arrest us. You’ll be on YouTube,” the fans continued to confront.
While the Russian flag has the order of colors from top to white, blue, red, the Serbian flag is exactly the opposite, and it is also supplemented with a crown and a double-headed eagle emblem.
