Australian Olympic Cyclist Melissa Hoskins Dies After Alleged Hit-and-Run by Husband Rohan Dennis

On Saturday evening, a car drove into Olympic cyclist Melissa Hoskins just meters outside her home, writes News.com.au.

The emergency services were called to the scene at eight in the evening. She was found with serious injuries and taken to hospital, but her life could not be saved.

Melissa Hoskins turned 32.

On Sunday, Australian media reported on the case. Rohan Dennis, who was married to Hoskins, is suspected of driving the car.

Olympic medalist is suspected of crime

Dennis has been charged with causing death by careless driving and will be released on bail.

The pair were well known in the cycling world and big sporting figures in Australia. Together they have two children.

Melissa Hoskins competed in velodrome cycling during her active career. In 2012 she competed in the London Olympics and finished fourth in the team competition. She also participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Rohan Dennis, 33, won World Cup gold in the time trial in both 2018 and 2019. He was part of the team that took silver to Australia in the 2012 Olympics and in Tokyo 2021 he won his first individual Olympic medal in the time trial.
