Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
An 11-year-old boy died Sunday in a balloon tragedy in Tasmania, Australia a few days ago. This death toll increased the death toll to six, all of whom were children.
The children fell from a height of 10 meters after the balloon palace they were playing with was blown away by the wind. The children played in the framework of their last week of school before the Christmas holidays.
“We all feel this terrible loss,” said Tasmanian Prime Minister Peter Gutwein.
Three boys and one 12-year-old girl died as a result of this incident. The incident also killed a boy and an 11-year-old girl.
As of now, there are two children still in critical condition, and another child is recovering at home, police said.
The police also said that it was still too soon to complete an investigation into the cause of this accident. They must also respect the bereaved family and the school community.
“We don’t want to rush things, but we understand that the community needs answers,” said Tasmanian Police Commissioner Darren Hine.
The county has also asked New South Wales police to help conduct interviews with fifth and sixth graders who were at the scene.
The school invites parents to volunteer for this event. There are several rides provided, such as a slide and a balloon palace. However, what was once a fun event turns into a disaster after the balloon palace that was used as a playground is blown away by strong winds.
