Australian Angler Missing: Two Crocodiles Suspected of Attack

Nightmare between water and land: An Australian angler goes missing. Two “suspects” have already been arrested.

An Argentine fisherman just got lost at work in March. He was found in the belly of a shark. A similar drama has probably happened in Australia: In the tropical north of Australia, the authorities have been looking for a missing angler for several days – in the stomach of two crocodiles.

Crocodiles are said to have snapped anglers on the river bank

The 65-year-old suddenly disappeared four days ago while fishing on the Kennedy River in a national park in Queensland. Other anglers say they heard a splash and a scream. Then nothing more.

Authorities have recommenced a search and rescue operation for a fisherman who went missing yesterday afternoon in the Kennedy River.Campers fear the fisherman may have been taken by a crocodile, after allegedly hearing a loud scream and commotion near the river bank.#9News pic.twitter.com/vQztD1ZQf2

“Likely involved in incident” – two suspected crocodiles euthanized

The river is notorious for its large crocodile population. Despite a thorough search in the dangerous waters, there has been no trace of the man, the broadcaster reported 9News on Tuesday.

During the night, rangers from the Ministry of the Environment discovered two specimens of the reptiles that were four and almost three meters long near the place where the man was last seen. The crocodiles were put to sleep in order to clarify by autopsy whether they ate the passionate hobby angler.

Probably they are “involved in the incident”said the police. “It’s a national park and wild animals live there, wild crocodiles”said police spokesman Jason Chetham. But people are afraid: Now the hunt for crocodiles is being discussed again in Queensland.
