Mumbai: After winning the first match and taking the lead, Indian women lost the Twenty20 series against Australia. After the second match, India lost the third match which was played today. Aussies won the third match by seven wickets. After losing the toss, Indian women batted and scored 147 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Australia won with eight balls and seven wickets to spare.
Openers Alyssa Healy (55) and Beth Mooney (52*) scored half-centuries to give the Aussies an easy win. Healy, who is also the captain, scored 55 runs off 38 balls with nine fours and a six. Mooney remained unbeaten on 52 off 45 balls with five fours.
Talia McGrath (20 off 15 balls) and Ellyse Perry (0) were the other outs for the Aussies. Phoebe Lichfield remained unbeaten with Mooney on 17 off 13 balls with three fours. Pooja Vastrakar took two wickets and Deepti Sharma took one wicket for India.
Earlier, India could not capitalize on the good start given by openers Shafali Verma (26) and Smriti Manthana (29) and were restricted to 147 runs. Shafali scored 26 runs off 17 balls with six fours. Manthana scored 29 runs off 28 balls with two fours and a six. Richa Ghosh scored 34 runs off 28 balls with two fours and three sixes.
Amanjyot Kaur remained unbeaten with 17 runs off 14 balls and Pooja Vastrakar with seven runs off 2 balls. Deepti Sharma was out after scoring 14 runs off 18 balls. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur (three in six balls) and Jamima Rodriguez (two in seven balls) disappointed.
