As part of a new assistance package to Ukraine, Canberra plans to send Hawkei armored vehicles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Australia intends to provide Ukraine with Hawkei armored vehicles as the centerpiece of a future military aid package. This is reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, citing sources.
It is noted that during a meeting in Singapore at the Asian Security Summit between Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, “a mutual understanding was reached, but an agreement has not yet been formalized due to Canberra’s official systems.”
Marles himself declined to comment on upcoming deliveries. He stated that the Ukrainians “provided a list” and they had “a fairly detailed conversation.”
The head of the Australian Ministry of Defense added that a new support package for Kyiv will be presented in the near future.
The publication writes that the announcement of assistance to Ukraine is expected by the time of the trip of Prime Minister Anthony Albaniz to the NATO summit in Lithuania next month.
Earlier it was reported that Australia is considering sending 41 of its F / A-18 Hornet aircraft to Ukraine.
