Australia has sealed its borders for a year and a half because of Corona. This kept the virus in check for a while. The closed borders also mean for around 35,000 Australians inside abroad that they have not been able to go home for a year and a half.
Many have no more money, no jobs or no apartment and are desperate. Some don’t come home – others haven’t come out of Australia for a year and a half.
For example Urs Walterlin. He is our correspondent in Australia and tells how difficult this situation is and also what ideas Australians have come up with because of the closed borders and their desperation, maybe finally getting home.
One example is the couple Tamara and Jake. The two sail from Panama to Australia because they haven’t found another option. And they document their journey on a YouTube channel.
