Australia seals an agreement with the US to receive a batch of attack helicopters

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The Australian Government has reached an agreement with the United States for the supply of 29 Apache helicopters between 2025 and 2028, the Ministry of Defense of the oceanic country reported. The head of the institution’s Military Industry, Pat Conroy, assured that the machines will be equipped with advanced devices.

“This will make them one of the most powerful helicopters at our disposal,” he said.

According to the Ministry, the devices will allow Australia perform for the first time their own reconnaissance operations.

Australia has been in the midst of an arms race of late with the acquisition of missiles for its planes and warships, military drones, tanks and helicopters. Besides intends to create a fleet of nuclear submarines with the help of the US and the UK.

Many experts attribute this militarism to Australia’s policy of following the US lead in confrontation with China.
