For the first time since the start of the corona crisis, vaccinated Australians residing abroad can enter their homeland without separate permission or quarantine. The country has somewhat relaxed the corona rules for international travelers.
Early this morning the first flights from Singapore and Los Angeles arrived in Sydney. Many passengers were greeted emotionally at the airport by family and friends, many of whom had not seen them for many months. Airline personnel welcomed the passengers with banners, flowers and chocolate chip cookies.
For the time being, the entry restrictions only apply to Australian citizens and immediate family, people with a residence permit and people from New Zealand.
The intention is that the country will eventually be reopened to international tourists, business people and students. Singapore residents are the next group to benefit from the Australian re-entry facilitations, from 21 November.
