Victorious Tuesday of the United Arab Emirates (2-1), the Australian selection will face, Monday, June 13, Peru in the intercontinental play-off of the Asia-South America zone. The qualified will find the Blues at the 2022 World Cup.
The first opponent of the Blues at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (November 21-December 18) will therefore be Australia or Peru. In the fourth round of qualifying for the Asian zone, the Australians won on Tuesday evening in Al-Rayyan, against the United Arab Emirates thanks to a late goal from midfielder Ajdin Hrustic (2-1, 84th) .
They thus won their ticket to play in the intercontinental play-off of the Asia-South America zone against Peru, already qualified after finishing fifth in the South American qualifiers. The match will take place on Monday, June 13 (8 p.m.).
