The organizers of the Asian Games meanwhile pledged to draw up a plan to prevent the spread of the virus on the basis of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February. Hangzhou, with its twelve million inhabitants, is the third Chinese city to host the Asian Games after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.
