Australia is a source of employment opportunities for young students from anywhere in the world looking for a job opportunity. However, to study and work in Australia you need to have a specific visa that allows overseas students to work while studying for 20 hours per week during school hours.
Now, the ocean country has taken it one step further and has announced the extension of the duration of this visa to a total of six years for students with specific qualifications.
This means that graduates with a degree that allows them to work in sectors where the supply of work is higher than the demand, will be able to benefit from the extension of this visa.
The goal of this new measure is addressing the labor shortage in Australia, especially in areas such as engineering, nursing or new technologies. Although it has not yet been announced which courses of study will be eligible to access one of these extended visas.

– in the case of master’s degree graduates, they can remain in the country for up to five years after completing their studies
– and for those with doctoral studies, the period of stay in Australia after finishing their studies is extended up to six years
The Australian government hopes this new measure will serve as a stimulus for the country’s workforce and also increase its attractiveness to international students.
