Team India has fallen into a hole of its own making. Authentic victory for Australia in the third Test. Chasing 76 runs, the Aussies crossed the target with the loss of just one wicket. Australia qualified for the World Test Championship finals at the Oval in England in June this year with their impressive win in Indore. Meanwhile, despite the loss, the Indian team is leading 2-1 in the 4-match series.
Australia closed out the match before lunch on the third day of the third Test, chasing down the target of 76 runs in 18.1 overs. Travis Head and Marnes Labuschagne set up the win. Travis scored an unbeaten 49 off 53 balls while Labuschagne scored an unbeaten 28. Usman Khawaja dismissed by R Ashwin. India won the toss and batted first and were bowled out for 109 runs.
In reply, the Kangaroos scored 197 in the first innings to take an 88-run lead. Barring Cheteshwar Pujara, the Indian batsmen disappointed in the second innings as well and the entire team was bowled out for 163 runs. It was India’s first defeat at home in two years. Earlier in 2021, Team India had to face defeat against England on their own soil. The fourth Test will be played in Ahmedabad from March 9.
