Four children were killed and five others injured in an accident that took place today in an inflatable park in Australia. While the children were playing in a bouncy castle, a strong gust of wind blew it into the air, causing the little ones to fall from a height of 10 meters. The victims, two boys and two girls, were on a field trip with an elementary school in Devonport, Tasmania.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison intervened to express his condolences to the families in the face of this “heartbreaking” incident. “A trip that turns into a horrible tragedy, and at this time of year, is absolutely heartbreaking,” he said, referring to the approach of Christmas.
It is not the first time that tragic accidents have occurred in inflatable parks. In China, two children were killed and 20 others injured in 2019, while the previous year a girl died when an inflatable exploded in Norfolk. Also in the UK, in March 2016, another wind-induced accident resulted in the death of a seven-year-old boy.
