VALENCIA (EFE). The Valencian guitarist Ausiàs Parejo has won first prize in the 41st edition of the Spain Guitar Music Competition, held at the Millennium Hall in Tokyo on October 14 and 15, and will return to Japan in 2024 for a concert tour. Three contestants from the 41 semi-finalists went to the final of the contest, who performed the Aranjuez Concerto by maestro Joaquín Rodrigo, along with an orchestra composed of members of the most important orchestras in Japan.

The second prize went to the Japanese Haruna Miyagawa and the third prize to the Chilean Andrés Madariaga, sources close to the musician report. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the Japan Spain Guitar Association, the organizing entity of this contest that is recognized by the Spanish Embassy to promote the exchange of guitar music between Japan and Spain.

As winner of the contest, Ausiàs Parejo was awarded the Spanish Ambassador’s Cup in Japan and will return in 2024 to go on a concert tour.
