To bring some comfort to homeless people during the holidays, Aurélie Téchené decided to give her time by cooking. With her two children, she prepares meals which she then distributes to the homeless in Dijon.
Aurélie Téchené is a mother who lives in Fontaine-d’Ouche, in the suburbs of Dijon, in Côte-d’Or. Aurélie has been giving her time to help others during the holidays for several years now. Indeed, this mother cooks with her children and prepares meals which she then distributes to the city’s homeless.
This Saturday, December 23, Aurélie started cooking at 6:30 a.m. With her two children, Corentin and Salma, aged 17 and 7, she prepared delicious meals before organizing their distribution.
“It’s important to show them that we have to be united, take care of each other. And I also tell myself that if one day I am in need, I will be happy to have this kind of gesture”explained Aurélie to Good public.
They cook for the homeless
This Saturday, Aurélie and her children prepared harira, a traditional Moroccan soup composed of tomatoes, chickpeas, meat and vermicelli. In addition to this, the small family distributed bread, cheese, clementines, homemade cakes and mint tea to homeless people.
To organize her food distribution, Aurélie joined that of the Red Cross. A great initiative that warms the bodies and hearts of homeless people affected by this gesture. In addition to this, Aurélie’s action promotes social bonds. Accompanied by her children during the distribution, she interacts with the homeless who wish to chat.
“I am proud to participate in these moments that make me growconfided Corentin, 17, to Good public. We give time to people who need it and we bring them a little comfort during a very difficult time.”
In total, 35 homeless people were able to enjoy a good meal prepared by the small family that day. A gesture of solidarity that Aurélie repeats two to three times per winter to bring a little balm to the hearts of people in need.
