Aura Power will invest 300 million euros in the creation of a solar power plant in the Ignalina district :: Dienas Bizness

The British company “Aura Power Developments” plans to invest 300 million euros in the Ignalina district of Lithuania to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 375 megawatts (MW) on an area of 600 hectares by the end of 2025, the company announced on Monday.

The British company is also interested in the possibility of implementing electricity storage or battery battery projects in Lithuania.

“Aura Power Developments” informed that the company has already started preparations for the construction of the solar power plant after signing a letter of intent with the Lithuanian power transmission system operator “Litgrid” and paying a security deposit of 5.625 million euros.

Aistis Radavichus, the manager of the British company’s partner in Lithuania “Rene Group”, said that most of the land lease contracts needed for the solar power plant were signed with local sheep farmers, who will still be able to farm in this area.

The electricity produced in the park will be able to supply 190,000 Lithuanian households.

In February, it was announced that “Aura Power Developments” plans to create a solar battery park with a capacity of 92.5 MW on an area of 314 hectares in Marijampole district. It is planned to invest at least 60 million euros in this project.

Founded in 2013, “Aura Power Developments” deals with solar photovoltaic power plants and electricity storage equipment projects in Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Canada, USA and Lithuania. The total capacity of its projects worldwide reaches 12,000 MW.
