Augusto Fernandez became the 2022 Moto2 World Champion after finishing second in the Moto2 Valencia 2022 race with Ai Ogura crashing and unable to finish on Sunday (6/11).
The Moto2 Valencia 2022 match was interesting and tense. Fernandez, who has only 9.5 points over Ogura, was under pressure at the start of the race.
Ogura successfully climbed to second place behind Tony Arbolino on lap three, while Fernandez was in fifth position. This condition brings Fernandez just 0.5 points ahead in the 2022 Moto2 standings.
Fernandez is lucky to have Pedro Acosta as his teammate. Because the 2021 Moto3 world champion put enormous pressure on Ogura by overtaking the Honda Team Asia rider on lap seven.
Acosta’s pressure really stresses Ogura. The Japanese driver finally made a mistake at turn eight, on lap eight, after successfully passing Acosta. Ogura fell as he tried to get away from Acosta.
Ogura’s non-arrival in Moto2 Valencia 2022 meant that Fernandez was confirmed as the 2022 Moto2 world champion.
Fernandez finished second successfully in Moto2 Valencia 2022 behind Acosta. The two KTM drivers overtook Arbolino, third on the podium.
Fernandez ended the season with a score of 271.5 points, a 29.5 point lead over Ogura in the final classification of the Moto2 2022.
