Shortly before Christmas, the Augsburg Panthers give themselves a present. With a 3-2 home win, AEV was able to secure important points.
Shortly before the holidays, the Augsburg panthers hosted the Krefeld penguins in the Curt Frenzel Stadium. After two unfortunate defeats, the AEV was about to finally score points again. The start against the penguins was extremely promising. After a few seconds, Augsburg’s striker Puempel was able to “pump” the target into the guest goal for the first time. The Panthers continued to dominate the game and were able to increase by a ricochet from Nehring’s skate before the first break.
Around ten minutes before the end, the guests from the Rhineland shortened by Niederberger, but less than a minute later Saponari was able to restore the two-goal lead. As a result, the home side had several opportunities to extend the lead, but failed because of the good KEV goalkeeper Shilin or, like Valentine, on the post. So it remained unnecessarily exciting.
When Krefeld made the connection through Bergström five minutes before the end, the Panthers had to tremble for the urgently needed three points until the end. The referees had refused the redeeming 4-2 by McClure, they had found the Canadian’s bat too high, probably an exclusive opinion of the two men in the striped jerseys. A little later, however, the AEV was finally able to celebrate.
Two mindless minutes decide the game – EHC Königsbrunn conceded a clear bankruptcy against Buchloe
The Swabians will continue on Sunday in Cologne before the derby against Straubing in the Schleifgraben on Tuesday. Again without fans. Despite the victory, it is not a nice Christmas day for ice hockey fans.
