The public sector has emerged under the Conservatives and Erna Solberg: – It hurts to be reminded of that.
As a prelude to the youth party leader debate during Arendal week in August, the leaders of the youth parties are invited to a duel on the Nettavisen podcast Stavrum & Eikeland.
First out is AUF and leader Astrid Hoem in a duel with Unge Høyre’s leader Ola Svenneby.
Hidden from Anders Behring Breivik
Hoem experienced the nightmare on Utøya when she was only 16 years old. She had to hide in a cave while Anders Behring Breivik killed her friends. At Stavrum & Eikeland she tells how it has shaped her as both a politician and a human being.
– It defines large parts of my life, says Hoem.
Svenneby, on the other hand, thinks he was almost a communist in secondary school, where he was very pro-Palestine and really should have been a member of AUF. At Stavrum & Eikeland, he explains what happened.
Being reminded of the brutal reality is tough for many, also for Svenneby. Under his Conservatives, public spending has skyrocketed to record highs.
– You are absolutely right. For us in the Conservative Party and especially the Young Conservative Party, it hurts to be reminded, says Svenneby to Stavrum & Eikeland.
At Stavrum & Eikeland the two fighting cocks break loose where the focus is public consumption, school, welfare, housing, taxes and not least they come up with the worst question they can ask each other.
They also talk about the development of house prices and that it means that one group is the ones who have had the best in Norway.
The online newspaper gives you the youth leader debate
Nettavisen Norsk debatt and the Amedia group are responsible for the Youth Party leader debate during Arendal week in August. The debate is held the day after the “regular” party leader debate, and is broadcast from the main stage at Kulturhuset.
The youth party leader debate is one of the most visited events during Arendal week. This year’s debate leaders will be political journalist Henrik Heldahl from Nettavisen and Anne Sofie Mengaaen Åsgard from Avisa Oslo. The latter has a background from TV 2.
