Fredrik Sørlie, central board member of AUF, says the Fosen case has aroused great interest in AUF. He strongly criticizes the government’s handling.
– We at AUF think it is completely hair-raising that over 500 days have passed before a position has been taken on this matter here. It is extremely reprehensible, says Sørlie NRK.
He thanks the demonstrators who, for over a week, demonstrated against the wind turbines at Fosen, which are displacing the reindeer herding of several Sami families and which the Supreme Court has determined is a violation of human rights.
– We have a clear expectation of the government. It must be guaranteed that such human rights violations will never happen again. I think the Sami population deserves that, says Sørlie.
AUF itself has not taken a position on what should happen to the wind turbines. The matter will first come up at the annual meeting in two weeks.
– Then we in AUF believe that when it comes to demolishing the wind turbines or not, it should be decided by AUF’s highest body between the national meetings, says Sørlie.
