How important it is to get off to a good start was shown in the past season. Aue won in Fürth and at home against newly promoted Wiesbaden, and also prevailed against Nordhausen in the first main round of the DFB Cup.
This time it is in the DFB Cup against the Wuerttemberg Cup winners (Ulm or Balingen), in the league to newcomer Würzburg and at home against Fürth.
“There could have been more difficult constellations, so that it allows us a reasonably decent start,” says Männel his duty: “There are slight parallels to last season. If we can find our way, we can score well. That has to be ours Be a goal, “says the 32-year-old.
Especially since there is a tough program in October with Hamburg (A), Heidenheim (H), Bochum (A) and Kiel (H).
“Exciting tasks are waiting for us,” says Männel, but does not rate the hammer program beyond: “It doesn’t matter what the opponents are called at the beginning or the end, we have to play against everyone.”
But, as last season teaches us: With a good start, you can create a gap at an early stage and play much more freely. What the violets are capable of, they finally proved with a strong seventh place.
