Audrey-Louise, the team has been preparing for this show with director Gregory Charles for a while, right?
Yes, we started rehearsals on August 22nd and things went really well; we had already put together all the musical numbers during the first two weeks. With Greg we know how it works and everything was done in a good working atmosphere. It’s really strong.

Do you feel like a fish in water playing in this musical?
Yes. Singing, dancing and acting are the three things I like to do, and that’s what I studied too. We have some really fun choreographies to do, they’re original and every movement is followed by an intention. I think it adds a lot to the game, it all makes sense, so it’s easy to play. Édith Collin-Marcoux is the choreographer. I already knew her because she does the choreography Star Academy. The more you are in the industry, the more people you know, and I find it fun to work with people I already know.

You feel that those who knew you a Star Academy Will he find you in this show?
In a way yes, because people have seen me sing, they have seen my personality. For Star Academy, it was really Audrey-Louise who we were getting to know. There, even if the character of Liesl von Trapp, the eldest of the children, still resembles me — we have quite similar personalities, a little blue flower and enterprising at the same time —, we will see myself playing and dancing for the first time. I have been seen making some moves at Star Academybut in The melody of happiness, there is a good moment of dance. I can’t wait to deploy this part of me that we haven’t seen yet.

Nearly nine months after your purge from Star Academywhat conclusion do you draw?
I think everyone has their own path. I was knocked out and it might be the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned from it and had opportunities following this decision. The best example is The melody of happiness. I get to share the stage with so many great artists, luminaries, and it’s been the best summer of my life. I am very thankful for the adventure and, for me, it doesn’t matter who won or not. It’s what you do next with the experience that matters. Krystel (Mongeau) remains a good friend of mine, we talk to each other every day.

Are you aware that people liked both your performances and your personality?
It’s extremely touching to know that my personality reaches so many people, I still can’t believe it. I find it really funny, because people come to see me and talk to me. They tell me I’m approachable and that makes me so happy. Recently, at a Ludovick Bourgeois album launch, a girl said to me, “I’ve been out for 20 minutes and I wanted to come see you, but I’m ashamed.” I replied: “Don’t be shy, next time come and see me directly.” Because I like to talk, I’m very happy about it. I feel very lucky to have developed this closeness with people.

You feel like you are starting a new cycle in your life and career with The melody of happiness?
Yes that’s right. There is the front Star Acbecause it still changed my life, then there are the consequences Star Ac. The melody of happiness it’s the first major project I’m participating in after this adventure. I think it’s the start of something really cool that I hope will continue. I work hard to make musicals because I really like it. Eventually, I would also like to release my songs for people to say, “I want to hear Audrey-Louise!”

For the foreseeable future, you are fully committed to your role at The melody of happiness?
Yes, as a priority, because the whole month of December will be very intense. After that, I’ll go through my album and release something over the next year.

Is this your first musical?
Do not. The melody of happiness was presented in 2007 at the Théâtre St-Denis with Productions Juste pour rire, and directed by Denise Filiatrault. I was playing the roles of Martha, Brigitta and Louisa, because I was growing up with the roles. Here, I come full circle with this show. It’s the one I played the most, I know it by heart. I find it funny because with Greg it’s a completely different approach, the show is not treated the same way. It’s really nice to have a fresh eye on this piece. I rediscover it.

Would you like to play in English and abroad in a musical?
In fact, I have already performed in New York, in English with a British accent. I took a lot of elocution lessons, because it’s not easy to master this accent. I played the role of Johanna in the musical Sweeney Todd: The Evil Barber of Fleet Street for one year. It was with my school, the New York Film Academy. We did an off-Broadway production. I was 20 at the time.

At what age did you start doing it?
I was 11 when I got the role of Martha The melody of happiness, with Denise Filiatault. It’s a bit unreal, it was my first contact with musicals. Subsequently, I played in many other productions. I remember in Drummondville, with Productions Alfred, every Wednesday night, I went to rehearsals. I went there with my father and I can say that he gave us a lift so that we could do many things, my brother, my sister and me. We were very spoiled by our parents, who signed us up for many activities.

Are your brother and sister also in the arts?
No, my brother is following in my father’s footsteps: he is an electrician and they work together. My sister is studying law at the University of Sherbrooke. She works hard, she impresses me. She had the Governor General’s Medal, she was president of her high school, president of CEGEP, and she finished ahead of her in her freshman year of university. She is great!

In addition to your career, we know of course that you had a daughter.
Yes, Adele turned 14 months on November 22nd.

How do you deal with your new role as a mother?
It’s going really well. My daughter is so easy, I’m blessed by the gods! Really, she sleeps 10 or 12 hours straight, she talks a lot of words and she’s super curious. She laughs all the time, it’s really funny. I have a nanny and with rehearsals and shows she still managed well because I can take my daughter with me most of the time. Otherwise, I have parents who are great because they are always there to babysit. She helps me a lot.

By the way, did you do any concerts last summer?
Yes, with the other academics, I did the Videotron Center with Marc (Dupre) and Lara (Fabian)and Place des Arts with Lara. I never thought I’d do this in my life. I also presented a solo exhibition at the Agora du village port in La Baie. An hour and a half show with songs I like to perform. I staged the show with the musicians, it was a very nice evening.

The melody of happiness is currently presented at the Théâtre St-Denis.
