Audio-Technica brings its portable 1980s Sound Burger back to life

To get you started, the Sound Burger 2022 includes Bluetooth connectivity and a built-in lithium-ion battery with USB-C charging. In other words, you don’t need to have a triple C cell battery to power the new model. According to Audio-Technica, you can expect to get around 12 hours of continuous playback from the Sound Burger 2022 before it needs to load.

The company has changed the design of the turntable in many other ways. First, you won’t find extendable hooks for your headphones. Speaking of headphones, the 2022 model doesn’t come with a free pair like its predecessor. However, it will ship with an RCA cable if you prefer to physically connect the turntable to your sound system. The 2022 model is also equipped with Audio-Technica ATN3600 for pencil. Otherwise it is in many ways the same turntable that many people remember fondly. Like its predecessor, it has a belt-driven DC motor that can drive 33 1/3 and 45 RPM, meaning you can use it to listen to both full-length and single-length LPs. It also looks as good as in 1983.

The Sound Burger 2022 is available for purchase starting today for $ 199 / £ 200 / € 229. This is a fair price considering that the old style can set you back up to $ 500 on eBay. It is not yet known whether Audio-Technica plans to rename Mister Disc for a US version.
