Médiamétrie has published the latest results of its Global Audio study, which analyzes all internet users’ audio uses: radio, podcasts, audio books, music streaming and personal music. Radio is the most popular audio offer. Each month, nearly 9 out of 10 Internet users (86,4%) listen to the Live radio. They are also increasingly listening to him on demand (27,7% Internet users). The streaming musical audio continues its democratization. Half of Internet users listen to music like this every month (53,5%), as much as those who consume it via physical media or a personal library (54.0%).
New for 2021, the study now offers the distinction between music consumption – on the radio, in streaming or via a personal library – and “spoken” editorial content, on the radio, in podcast or via audiobooks. Whether for music or “spoken” editorial content, the radio is the most popular offer, representing respectively 44% and 94% uses. Near’a third of Internet users (31.3%) listen to podcasts every month, a figure increasing by 5,3 points in a year. Podcasts are particularly appreciated by young people : 1 podcast listener on 4 is less than 25 years old. An engaging format: nearly half of listeners (44%) say they recommend or rate the podcasts they listen to.
