Web Desk: Petitions of three institutions to disqualify Justice Babar Sattar from the audio leak case were dismissed with fines imposed.
According to sources, Justice Babar Sattar dismissed various pleas related to separation from the audio leak case by imposing a fine of 5 lakhs.
In the Islamabad High Court, a hearing was held on the petitions of Bushra Bibi and former Chief Justice’s son Najam Al Thaqib regarding the audio leaks. Meanwhile, Attorney General Usman Mansoor appeared in the court.
During the hearing, Justice Babar Sattar said that 4 different applications have come and they will be heard first.
Justice Babar Sattar said that IB, FIA, PTA are serious institutions and I will decide after listening to their requests, in which objections have been raised against me, who has given them the authority to file the requests?
Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal replied that FIA has requested to transfer the case to another court. On his behalf, there is an objection that 6 judges including Justice Babar Sattar have written a letter of interference of intelligence agencies in the judiciary.
Justice Babar Sattar asked what is the relationship of FIA with the issue of ISI, how is this letter related to FIA? Is FIA an intelligence agency? The Additional Attorney General said that FIA is not an intelligence agency.
Later, the court dismissed the FIA’s miscellaneous application with a fine of Rs 5 lakh while the court directed contempt of court proceedings against the DGFIA.
During the hearing, Justice Babar Sattar asked that with whose approval was the Intelligence Bureau’s miscellaneous application filed? On this, the Additional Attorney General said that the Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau has approved, Justice Babar Sattar said that he should appear himself at the next hearing.
At the end of the hearing, the court dismissed the PTA, FIA and Pemraki applications by imposing a fine of Rs 5 lakh each.
