The carmaker plans to start production “within four years” of a latest newly developed model with combustion engine. That would be an SUV for the American market. When exactly the last combustion engine will roll off the production line will depend on consumers and legislation, but that should be by 2033.
The only exception is China, where Audi expects demand for combustion engines after 2033. “So locally built cars with combustion engines could still be delivered there,” it sounds.

Audi speaks of “an accelerated transition to e-mobility”. With the new models e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron, Audi is already launching more electric cars this year than models with combustion engines. By 2025, the brand wants to offer more than twenty electric models.

Audi, part of the VW group, also has a factory in Brussels. The electric model e-tron is being built there.
