Audi will give up gasoline and diesel cars in 2026, but also hybrids. The German manufacturer will produce exclusively electric cars

Audi, a division of the German group Volkswagen AG, will give up gasoline and diesel cars in 2026, the publication Sueddeutsche Zeitung was quoted as saying by Agerpres. The source of the information is an announcement by the head of Audi, Markus Duesmann, to the representatives of the union and of the company’s management.

Also, 2026 hybrid models will no longer be sold, and the company will focus on electric vehicles.

The parent company Volkswagen aims to deliver one million electric vehicles this year. The group recently announced that it has increased its planned investments in digital technologies and electric vehicles to 78 billion euros over the next five years, of which about 35 billion euros will be invested in electric mobility.

The Volkswagen Group’s portfolio consists of 12 brands, including VW, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Lamborghini, Seat, Bentley and Bugatti cars, as well as MAN and Scania trucks. (Photo: Audi Company)
