Bi-fuel hatchback Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron can run on natural gas and biomethane. Fuel is stored in three cylinders located at the rear of the body. A steel cylinder that can hold four kilograms of gas is located in front of the gas tank. The other two, made of fiber-reinforced polymers, are fixed under the boot floor. The total amount of gas stored at 200 bar is sufficient for approximately 445 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
A reserve nine-liter gas tank is designed to start the engine at low temperatures. In addition, gasoline can be used if the methane runs out.
