The discontinuation of cars with internal combustion engines in Europe is not new news, but most manufacturers plan to start in the second half of this decade and even early next. However, this is not the case, according to Audi, which has announced that it will stop selling diesel cars in the Netherlands from tomorrow.
The company, which is part of the VW Group, will eliminate all offers for diesel cars from its range in the Dutch offices, as of April 1, 2022. This means that the only options for an internal combustion engine in the country will be left to petrol engines. At the moment, the news only affects Audi models and only in the Netherlands, but it is possible that we will soon see similar solutions in other countries and from other companies in the Volkswagen Group.
Audi has announced that it is abandoning the development of new internal combustion engines, and the last car with such an engine will be shown in 2025. According to the plan, 2033 will be the last year in which the German brand will offer cars with conventional engines.
