In the minds of motorsport fans, January is traditionally associated with the Dakar Marathon Rally, which is now taking place in Saudi Arabia for the fourth year. For the third year in a row, the Audi factory team also competes in it. Although the Audi team is still on the way to the first very possible victory in the most difficult off-road race on the planet, the Audi factory has prepared a special version of the well-known electric street car Q8 e – tron, which is also called – edition Dakar.
It will be produced in a limited series of 99 cars, all of which will be painted Mythos Black with special stickers, the design of which is inspired by the design of the rally raid RS Q e tron. Ground clearance is 6.5 centimeters higher than the standard Q8 e tron, and in offroad mode the pneumatic struts allow it to be increased by another 3 cm. With off-road tires, the maximum ground clearance reaches 20.6 cm. Unlike other Q8 e trons, which usually have four wheels, the e tron edition Dakar comes with eight. Standard tires are General Grabber AT3 off-road tires on 18-inch wheels, and every buyer of the e tron edition Dakar will receive a second set of 20-inch wheels with for tires more suitable for public roads.
