A blogger from the USA bought at an auction an electric car Audi e-tron with only 4,200 km mileage and placed it in a box with two tons of rice.
Youtuber Rick Benoit has done an experiment that probably no one has done before. An American has built a large box around his recently auctioned Audi e-tron and filled it with two tons of rice.
You can understand why this was done if you happened to hear about tips on what to do if a mobile phone falls into water. One of the suggestions is to put the phone in a bowl of rice, which the blogger then decided to use to revive his auctioned Audi e-tron.
Benoit had bought the brand new (mileage 4,200 km) electric car at an auction for 50,000 dollars (new price: 110,000 dollars), but there is one “but” – the car was a so-called “slicker” that had been under the influence of water for some time, which had caused defects in high voltage battery, cooling system, multiple CAN gateways, driver assistance system and other places.
The American remembered the advice with rice and thought that what works on a small scale will also be effective in a larger dose. To cover the e-tron with rice, a large covered box was built to prevent moisture from entering the air and allow the rice to do its job as well as possible.
After a few days, the car was released from the forced garage, started and even moved a little. Although numerous error messages remained on the on-board computer, the American believes that the rice trick is working.
