“Auctioning Off Found Bikes: A Chance to Score a Deal at the Salzburg Volksgarten”

“First, second, and third. Sold.” – is said again on Friday at an auction of the Lost and Found Office of the City of Salzburg. 44 bikes – including women’s, men’s and children’s bikes – that were parked in public places and were not in demand from their former owners for a year are going under the hammer at a starting price of five or ten euros.

Bicycle auction in the Salzburg Volksgarten

The auction on the covered open space of ice rink 2 in the Volksgarten begins at 4 p.m. From 2.30 p.m. there is the possibility to inspect the bikes in advance until 3.30 p.m. Only cash payment is possible, reports the city of Salzburg in a broadcast on Tuesday.

Bicycles sometimes have to be made fit first

Since these are found bikes, it should be noted that the bikes are all roadworthy, but are not necessarily equipped in accordance with the road traffic regulations (lighting, reflectors, etc.). The city assumes no liability for the bicycles purchased at auction.

The entrance is only possible via the back of the ice arena (car park for employees: inside MA 7-01, near the Volksgarten).
