An auction dedicated to wine took place this Saturday at the city of gastronomy, in Dijon. Individuals were able to have their bottles valued free of charge last spring from the Dijon municipal credit, and had the opportunity to put them on sale.
A Corton-Charlemagne 2012 from Domaine Coche-Dury, announced between €8,100 and €9,000, finally sold for €9,800. At the cinema of the city of gastronomy, in Dijon, a special auction took place this Saturday, September 30. The Dijon municipal credit put 1,300 bottles of wine on sale, divided into 380 lots.
These were collected during a free estimate offered in four communes of Côte-d’Or last spring: Dijon, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Beaune and Meursault.
In the catalog of this sale dedicated only to private wines, spirits, Bordeaux wines, but above all prestigious appellations of Burgundy wines: Meursault, Corton-Charlemagne, Pommard and Gevrey-Chambertin.
In the room, buyers, curious people, but also people who have put their bottles up for sale. “We sell six bottles, including Pommard “Clos de la Commaraine” and you Beaune “Clos de l’écu”, specify Noëlle and Daniel. Both came from Saône-et-Loire, and had their wines appraised in the town of Meursault.

Claire comes to pay for her wine with those responsible for the sale. She got nine bottles of Pouilly-Fumé for €84. Coming from Besançon with her two children, she is a lover of white Burgundy wines, but was not able to stay longer. “With what I got, I can’t be disappointed”she believes.
If certain bottles or lots sell for a few dozen euros, prices can rise to several thousand. A bottle of Meursault “Charmes 1er cru” advertised for between €500 and €600, was ultimately sold for €2,000.
“We reached €122,000 in sales, and 95% of the lots were sold”specifies Grégoire Asselineau, general director of municipal credit. It was the first time that we had a sale solely dedicated to wines, but we will think about how to keep this event going“.
A success which he attributes in particular to the quality of the lots offered: “we went to wine-growing areas, where there are a lot of donations, for example bottles that are given after harvest”.
Potential buyers could also participate in the sale online. • © Eloïse Bussy / France Télévisions
Several dozen people were present on site, but buyers could also raise bids online or by telephone.
