Auch. A new public scanner and MRI in the hospital soon

the essential
The Regional Health Agency has issued a favorable opinion for the implantation of a scanner and an MRI at the Auch hospital center, after a year of mobilization.

The news fell after a year of “remarkable mobilization, which brought together staff, users and elected officials”, recalls Doctor Willy Vaillant, president of the Medical Commission of the Auch hospital center. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) has decided: the Auch hospital will soon be equipped with a new scanner and a new MRI. “These two medical imaging devices will be intended for use in the hospital, ensures Sylvie Lacarrière, director of the establishment. They can be used every day to meet the needs of emergencies and various services. requests for examinations may be completed more quickly. “

Last November, a scanner had already been installed and a new MRI should arrive in the spring. “But these two devices belong to the GIE: we can only use them at 50%, reminds the director. Our vacations on these devices will be reserved for appointments scheduled during the week.”

Now, the hospital has three years to install these two additional devices. But the administration does not intend to wait that long: “We would like to set up the scanner by the end of the year, explains Sylvie Lacarrière. We already have the premises, but we must do some work before receiving the equipment.” As for the MRI, the establishment hopes to install it next year.

Better attractiveness

Christian Laprébende, mayor of Auch and president of the supervisory board of the hospital, is delighted with this decision: “A year ago, the situation was very alarming to the point of risking the disappearance of the medical imaging service of the hospital. ‘public hospital, he recalls. The concentration of care and the safety of patients treated in emergencies require this equipment “. As for the unfavorable decision of the ARS for the installation of an MRI at the Condom hospital (see page 29), Christian Laprébende “cannot hear that patients are going to Agen, as suggested by the Minister of Health. We hope that Condom can also be equipped with an MRI”.

This decision but also the medico-nursing project (see box) contribute to the attractiveness of the hospital. Christian Laprébende and Sylvie Lacarrière remind us: “We want the people of Gers not to have to leave the territory for essential medical care”.

A medico-care project focused on the territory

The management of the hospital center presented this Friday the objectives of the medico-nursing project for the next 5 years. Five strong axes emerge from this regional project: strengthening the medical offer and adapting it to needs; adapt capacity and modernize the structure; anchor the establishments within the territory; improve the attractiveness of medical care; continue to improve the quality and safety of patient care. For this, several priority actions are planned: reinforce the dialysis offer by increasing the capacity of patients (from 8 to 12 places); actively participate in breast cancer screening and prevention (in the department, many women over 50 do not have the opportunity to have mammograms); improve the patient’s journey on an outpatient basis; strengthen the territory’s geriatric sector; develop cardiological activity (in particular rhythmology) and strengthen the link with liberal health professionals (for this, a project to create a health center in the city center of Auch is under development).
