Arsenal party goal on goal West Bromwich Albion in the second half English League Cup. The Gunners won 6-0 with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang make a hat-trick.
Arsenal travel to The Hawthorns, Thursday (26/8/2021) early morning WIB in the second round of the English League Cup. Aubameyang opened Arsenal’s series of goals in the 17th minute.
He doubled it in the 45th minute, followed by Nicolas Pepe’s goal in first-half injury time. The score was 3-0 for Arsenal’s advantage at halftime.
Mikel Arteta’s foster children did not stop chasing goals in the second half. Bukayo Saka scored the fourth goal in the 50th minute.
Aubameyang recorded his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, followed by a goal from Alexandre Lacazette seven minutes later. The 6-0 score lasted until the end, Arsenal also picked up their first win of the season and qualified for the third round of the English League Cup.
The course of the match
Arsenal immediately dominated the game after the first kick. The goal came in the seventh minute when Nicolas Pepe found Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s pass into the net, but the referee canceled it out because the ball had left the field.
West Brom responded in the 13th minute from a corner. Adam Reach’s shot went wide from close range.
GOAL! Aubameyang brought Arsenal ahead in the 17th minute. He grabbed the rebound from Bukayo Saka’s shot which was pushed over by goalkeeper Alex Palmer.
Pole! Saka’s stab in the 23rd minute ended with a shot that turned after hitting and falling to Martin Odegaard. Odegaard shoots but only hits the outside of the post.
Aubameyang escaped the offside trap in the 35th minute when he received Granit Xhaka’s pass. The West Brom goalkeeper was quick to read the situation and came out of his nest to block the ball.
Shortly before the first half ended, Arsenal scored two goals in close range. Aubameyang scored the second goal in the 45th minute, this time snatching the rebound from Nicolas Pepe’s shot that hit the post.
A minute later, or rather in injury time, it was Pepe’s turn to score. At first Aubameyang’s shot was cleared by the goalkeeper and his second effort with an acrobatic shot directed the ball to Pepe. Pepe easily hit the ball into the goal. The first half ended.
The second half just stepped on the 50th minute when Arsenal made the fourth goal. Saka played a one-two with Odegaard then coolly beat Palmer with a curling effort.
West Brom threatened in the 54th minute. Kenneth Zohore’s header went into goal and was parried by Aaron Ramsdale. Two minutes later, Taylor Gardner-Hickman’s shot headed right at the Arsenal goalkeeper.
GOAL! Aubameyang scored a hat-trick in the 62nd minute. Starting from a quick attack, Aubameyang received a thrust from Ainsley Maitland-Niles on the left side. He moved to cut into the middle and directed a curling shot into the right corner of the goal.
Crossbar! Arsenal almost made the sixth goal in the 68th minute. Alexandre Lacazette sent a through ball that Pepe received in a free position. Pepe poked the ball to beat Palmer, but the ball then hit the crossbar and went off the pitch!
GOAL! Arsenal actually scored the sixth goal a minute later. Pepe stabbed in the right and released a pull bait which was grabbed by Lacazette with a low shot into the right corner of the goal.
Nice save from Palmer in the 79th minute. He blocked Lacazette’s low shot and saved it.
Arsenal kept control of the game in the remaining time and no more goals were scored until the final whistle.
