The approximately 3,000 employees of the AUA ground staff hold a secret vote on the upcoming savings package on Monday and Tuesday, which was put together as a “key point program” between the board, the works council Boden and the union GPA-djp. Among other things, this provides for savings in salary valuation and the temporary reduction of actual salaries, according to the union on Sunday.
“If there are improvements in the current state aid negotiations compared to the assumptions made when the paper was created, an improvement clause will lower the employees’ savings contribution,” emphasized GPA-djp Federal Managing Director Karl Dürtscher. “It is important to us to create transparency and to actively involve the employees in the ongoing process,” said Boden Works Council Chairman Rene Pfister.
“Painful step for everyone involved”
With this “painful step for everyone involved”, an important contribution should be made to securing AUA, the business, congress and tourism location, so that Austria can continue to play an important traffic hub function in the future. “With the planned or implemented measures by the state, owners, suppliers and employees, it should be possible to find the way back to success,” said Dürtscher and Pfister.
