AUA Dreamliner: New York flight delayed one day

Yesterday’s AUA flight OS 087 departed from Vienna Schwechat about 45 minutes late. The destination of the Boeing 787-9 Dremaliner with aircraft registration OE-LPM was JFK Airport in the East American city of New York. But great storms were passing over New York at the predicted time. As a result, several aircraft had to divert to other airports – AUA’s Dreamliner was no exception. The pilots decided to go to Boston Airport, where they first flew several holding patterns. The team had to land on the first trip; it was only on the second attempt that the jet was able to touch down safely in Boston.

Later that night the OE-LPM was transferred from Boston to New York. It was supposed to depart there on August 3rd at 9:45pm and land in Vienna Schwechat today, August 4th, at 11:55am local time. But the plane is still in New York. Departure from OS 88 is currently scheduled for 4:05pm local time. The plane is not expected in Vienna until tomorrow, 5:00 am. If this record holds, that would be a delay of 17 hours.
