Festival Liepaja summer will return to his historic home this year – Liepāja Jurmala Park, renovated concert garden Blow wind! I have rarely conducted Richard Wagner’s music. however, it is so strong and majestic that at the end of Liepāja I have even included two compositions by Wagner from his opera Nuremberg Masters“comments the opening concert program of the festival.
Liepaja summers The soloists of the opening concert will be world-famous singers – Latvian bass baritone, domestic opera star Egils Siliņš, Italian tenor Dario di Vietri and Serbian soprano Marija Jeliča. Dario di Vietri has won laurels and received significant criticism from many prestigious world opera houses, while the new Serbian opera diva Maria Jelic started a serious professional career only a few years ago, but has already won the sympathy of listeners and critics in many countries around the world. Both opera singers will perform in Latvia for the first time.
The Sigulda Opera Music Festival will take place for the twenty-eighth time this summer. Atvars Lakstīgala will participate in them for the eighth year in a row. This year, the festival’s choir and orchestra will perform at the Gala Concert with Laktīgala together with prominent world opera stars – Tanius Ivanovs from Bulgaria, Perina Madef from France and Dominik Suttovica from Poland, as well as local singers Mikhail Chulpayev, Rinaldi Bagels.
Atvars Lakstīgala started his career as a musician as a professional forester. He was the chief conductor of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra.
