ATV Mercando Irdning continued its winning streak in the district derby away against table laggard SV Trieben. Coach Karl Duswald’s blue and white kickers also won their 16th game and remain unbeaten in the championship so far. With a goal difference of 57:6, they lead the table in the North A subliga with a lead of 8 points over their pursuer Krieglach.
Leadership for Irdning
Only a tranquil 100 spectators gathered in the Coffeesky Arena in Trieben. SV Trieben was deep from the start of the game and coach Marco Pichler’s 10 kickers did not leave their own half for almost the entire game. The ATV Mercando Irdning tried to play nice football, but the strong wind and the defensive visiting team didn’t allow for any football treats that day. After rolling attacks on the home team’s goal, it took until the 14th minute for ATV Irdning to take the lead. As a result, the courageously playing guests always got stuck in SV Trieben’s defense and it took until the 42nd minute until the goal alarm sounded again. After a nice move by Jonas Schweiger, Alex Hofer scores another goal for ATV Irdning, but this is disallowed due to an offside position.

In the second half, ATV Irdning increased the lead to 3-0 for his team in the 47th minute through Manuel Eder with a well-placed shot. In the 61st minute the time had come for Leon Köll after his serious shoulder injury. After a break of 5 months, physiotherapist Markus Kahr gave the green light for a comeback and coach Karl Duswald sent him onto the field for goal scorer Daniel Adelwöhrer. The fast winger showed his usual strength from the start and just 3 minutes later made it 4-0 for ATV Irdning after a pass from Daniel Mayrhofer. The prudent referee Gerhard Kressl relieved the spectators in the 90th minute with the final whistle in this district derby with the final score 4-0 for the guests from Irdning.
When will the hosts find the solution to their own defensive woes? In the game against ATV Irdning there was another defeat, which meant that SV Trieben slipped further in the rankings. The attack is the problem area with shoots. SV Trieben has only scored 24 goals so far. Trieben has now had to admit defeat nine times this season. Next Saturday (4:00 p.m.) SV Trieben will play against FC Mayr-Melnhof Gaishorn, the day before, ATV MERCANDO Irdning has to do its homework against SC “1960” Team Styria RB Pernegg.
