The prosecution has asked the court to detain all 26 detainees as a precautionary measure for one to three months, pointing to the possibility that they might obstruct the investigation, hide, flee or commit new crimes.
The Vilnius City District Court, working remotely, has so far heard 18 people and arrested nine of them suspected of provoking riots and resisting law enforcement.
Five people are allowed to be detained for one month, two for 14 days and two more for 10 days. Four more have been placed under intensive supervision by the court – they will have to wear a bracelet around their legs and follow a certain daily routine, while the rest have not been ordered by the court and will be able to be chosen by the prosecutor’s office itself.
According to the deputy chairman of the court Mindaugas Ražansks, three claims apply to women, and the court refused to arrest them.
