The lawyer Valentín Medrano denounced this Friday that there are dark hands that seek to damage the honor of the director of the Executing Technical Unit for State Land TitlingMérido Torres, with information tending to confuse and generate morbidity in the media, spreading the false information that he owned part of the land in the International Airport of the Americas (AILA), Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez.
Medrano clarified that in 2017 Mérido Torres received members of the Reyes family in his private law office, who had been affected by the expropriation processes that the Dominican State had carried out on part of the land that AILA occupies today and As a result of this, he was empowered to represent them in the collection process from the State, since it was included in a decree that declared the portion of land of public utility.

After nine hearings, Torres obtained a ruling from the Superior Administrative Court in 2019, which ordered the payment to the Reyes family that the Dominican State owed them, which was made to the plaintiff in 2020 and, by way of Consequently, Torres received a part of the payment of his professional fees.
“This highlights the dark intentions of some people who have dedicated themselves to spreading false information to attack the morality and good name of the lawyer Mérido Torres. The mention of Torres together with 188 people in the investigative act is due to the fact that the Public Ministry was verifying all the payments made by the State, to attorneys in charge of the cases, and to the families that own the property rights,” said the lawyer Medrano. .
In a first mention, last August the lawyers representing the Torres Espinal & Asociados office, explained at a press conference the details of the judicial process carried out since 2017; and that the collection was made after a winning judgment that made the Reyes family creditors of the payment by the Dominican State.
Interviewed on the program “Esto No es Radio” on the Alofoke FM platform, hosted by José Martínez Brito, Gaby Desangles, Honey Estrella, Ramón Tolentino, Ariel Santana and Ernesto Jiménez, criminal lawyer Valentín Medrano assured that they have all the necessary documentation that show that Mérido Torres acted in accordance with legal processes and the Constitution.
He also indicated that with this media campaign what is sought is to try to tarnish the good management that Mérido Torres is carrying out, as executive director of the State Land Titling Executing Technical Unit (UTECT), in which there has been no act of administrative irregularity.
Likewise, he cited that the claims of this disinformation plot seek to affect the aspirations for mayor of Torres for the Santo Domingo Este municipality, in which he is receiving broad support from the political leadership and various sectors of that demarcation.
