Attic Apartment Fire Investigation Completed in Münchenbuchsee: Technical Defect Leads to Extensive Damage

The investigation into a fire in an attic apartment in Münchenbuchsee in mid-July last year has been completed.

The Fires and Explosions Department of the Bern Cantonal Police has completed the investigation into a fire in an attic apartment on Bernstrasse in Münchenbuchsee on Sunday, July 23, 2023 (see media release from the same day).

One resident was injured in the fire. The house, which also had a garage and a gas station, was no longer habitable.

The investigations revealed that a technical defect in a charger or a battery of an electrical device led to the fire.

Due to the extensive destruction, it was no longer possible to determine what type of electrical device it was. According to estimates, the material damage amounts to around one million francs.
