At the beginning of May, we informed you that new European requirements for labels and markings on car tires had entered into force. A large part of you wrote to me in private to inquire whether it is necessary to purchase new tire sets due to these regulations. I decided to explain this topic to you.
Tires have undergone a revolution, but you don’t have to throw away your old kits
The most important thing in the introduced change is the fact that from the beginning of this month it is not allowed to use the tire in forests F and G due to rolling resistance and wet grip. The new scale covers only 5 classes (A to E). In addition to the standard label, in line with the new regulation that has entered into force, there will also be an icon for grip on an icy road.
The introduction of new changes does not mean that you have to buy a new set of tires. It is only a change to improve your safety. The new label includes, inter alia, additional pictograms informing about the increased grip of tires on snow or a QR code that can be scanned has been added.
Security is the key
The new grip symbols are designed to help you find and purchase tires more easily. Under no circumstances should you throw away your old sets!
