Attention, “deaf-mute” fraudsters are returning to Pilsen again

We have not written for a long time about fraudsters posing as fundraisers for deaf citizens. This is a scam that has been around for many years and we have reported it repeatedly in the past.

These are always foreigners, often Romanians or Bulgarians, who, when applying for financial aid, present suspicious forms to the people who have been treated by, for example, the to write “Regional certification for deaf and disabled people and for poor children we want to open an international center, thank you”. If you sign up, they start pressuring you indiscriminately and make you pay.

Unfortunately, these frauds have now returned to Pilsen again. According to our reader, a woman was walking around the Tesco shopping center on Rokycanská street yesterday, pretending to be deaf and dumb and asking passers-by for money.

“Yesterday, in the parking lot in front of Tesco Rokycanská, this woman got into my car and put this paper on me. At first I asked her what she wanted, and when I found out she was deaf, I called her, “Hello, how are you?”
She waved at me angrily and walked away. I called the police immediately, the patrol came to the scene and tried to find him. However, according to their message, these groups of fraudsters have started swarming around the city’s customers again, so warn your loved ones not to give anything to anyone in parking lots, and at the same time alert the police about them. They need to get rid of such scumbags!” A woman described the incident to us.

As we have written several times, in these cases it is always a fraud, and the simplest defense is not to give any money to the frauds, without signing anything, and immediately notify to the guards or police to the scene.

The course of the fraud was explained to us in detail years ago by another reader, but this time she ran into it herself: “In Olympia, at the H + M store, I was talking on the phone with my daughter about exactly what she wanted me to buy for her, and during the call a man tapped me on the shoulder. At first I thought I was just getting on my way and going back, but he was giving me plates with a sheet of paper and a pen and said he was deaf and dumb. that I was engrossed in the conversation, I was just skimming the paper with my eyes, it looked like a petition of some kind, at the bottom of the organization’s logo, so I started to fill it out, name, postcode and city.
The gentleman then started showing me that there was an amount of 300 on the line above that, I didn’t want to argue with the disabled person, so I took the money out of my wallet and I gave it to the gentleman.
At that point I realized that he was putting them in his breast pocket, that the paper was scanned strangely, etc., so I asked him to show me ID, but he didn’t have it, so I I asked him to give the ID back. money He started bowing as if to thank him and very quickly he ran away between the shelves, always looking back to see if I was following him. When he saw that there was, he ran into the men’s section and tried to hide among the coats.
So I asked him for 300 CZK saying I was stupid, I left and didn’t want to deal with anything. But at the weekend I was visiting my parents and my mother told me the exact story, it’s just what happened to them in the KIKA store, also there was a very bad gentleman pointing deaf and talk to them.”
