To support the French confined since Tuesday for a minimum of 15 days, many initiatives have been launched. And it’s Canal + which drew first by temporarily offering – until April 15 – its clear channels to all box holders. A decision that quickly cringe on the competition side and in particular on the part of the TF1 group which only moderately appreciated this outpouring of generosity. And for good reason, this new competitor quickly managed to attract audiences. So yesterday, Canal + attracted nearly 1.7 million prime-time viewers with the film Venice is not in Italy, ahead of France 3 for example. “They say that normally we are an encrypted channel, that only subscribers have access to our programs. They complain about threatening film distributors to pay cheaper films …” explained Franck Appieto, boss of C8, in TPMP last Tuesday.
Only the Canal + channel will remain free …
Two days later, the situation seems to be changing. They are in the rassrah so they are b ** “ he revealed a few seconds after trying to call Ara Aprikian, director of programs for TF1, in order to reconcile with him. Not sure that this little rant helps to achieve it …
As for the happy beneficiaries of the gift from Canal, it will certainly be necessary to make the most of it this weekend before having to be satisfied – and it is not bad enough – with the encrypted clear channel. Until TF1 is fully successful? Case to follow …
