Attempted femicide in San Antonio: he seriously injured his girlfriend with three bullets and also shot at the police officers

A new act of gender violence occurred in Misiones, with a still uncertain end. A man seriously wounded his girlfriend with three shots in the town of San Antonio and escaped from the police to the shots, injuring a force officer who saved his life by the bulletproof vest he was wearing.

Members of the Regional Police Unit VII undertook an intense search in the area to find the violent man. An alert and arrest warrant were also issued in Brazil.

The episode of violence occurred yesterday around 18:30 in the Capitán Giachino area, when Darío Correa (38 years old) and his partner; Nélida Carvalho Costa, they discussed on the sidewalk of a friend’s house that they went to visit and with whom the man had shared a lunch and a round of drinks.

In the middle of the discussion, three detonations of a firearm were heard, after which Correa got into his car – a gray Fiat Palio – and fled with an unknown direction. The woman was shot three times and hit her body; two in the clavicle area and one at the neck level, so she was immediately transferred by neighbors to the local hospital, where she remains hospitalized with a reserved prognosis.

Alerted by a phone call, police officers met at the scene and verified the fact, through the testimony of the homeowner.

Immediately, a police commission began searching for the fugitive, who was later found walking on a street in the Nuestra Señora de Fátima neighborhood. Upon seeing the police, the suspicion fled, shooting at the uniformed men, shooting a man with a cash that hit his safety vest, which saved his life thanks to the protection he was wearing.

The man managed to evade the police patrol by entering a wooded area, late at night. After which, an intense search was carried out and an alert was arranged with the Brazilian police authorities, to find the whereabouts of the fugitive.
